I don't suppose anyone can help with Wordshark on a Win 98 machine, can they? I have 3 identical, newly wiped machines with just Word or Open office and wordshark on. One worked fine. One goes as far as the splash screen, validates the CD and then freezes the computer. The third one validates the CD and then returns to the desktop.
I have been on the phone to support for over an hour and have tried everything - the support guy decided the CDs must be the problem but it seems a bit odd to me
He was very helpful and we did try a lot but I am now at the end of my (admittedly short) tether.
We tried:
making sure nothing was left in the reg
making sure nothing was left anywhere
a manual install
checking sound card
Any ideas, anyone?

The only problem I had with wordshark was getting them to run on XP - but compatability mode sorted that out.....

WITCH, just a long shot, maybe, but are the versions of Wordshark installed on the machines really identical to the CD or CDs you are putting in? We have found on our 2000 machines that version 3 CDs will work with version 3s installations, but not vice versa and the symptoms are the same. I'm sure their support will have gone through that with you, but....

I had serious problems with this on one computer it would never work even with the drive formatted and a fresh install of w98. Finally got it to work by using a virtual cd drive.

Er...I did say that it was a Win 98 machine, so telling me it works with XP isn't a lot of help, guys!
Andie: It is me installing the CD on to a newly wiped machine so versions shouldnt be a problem
chrbb: that sounds interesting - can you pm me with how you did it?
Thanks
