I have got this Cars - Maths in Motion to install on our network .It comes with a .msi file but it is only for RM networks. We are running a Windows 2003 /XP network here. I have tried the suggested install options and none seem to work.
I get this error : 'Run-Time error '75.' Path file access error.
I have changed the relevent permission, even tried it as full control for students on all the files but this error keeps coming up. I have read the hel pmanual and it suggest that there maybe a registry entry that may need to be modified by the user when in use. Any one had any luck with this.
I did our install for Cars about six months ago. Can't remember off the top of my head if there was anything special, but I'll take a look and hopefully post something of use before the end of the day...
Not sure if there are any peculiarities with installing via .MSI, but I've included the networking document from the Cars CD.
The main points to watch are installing the data files to a mapped network share (in our case, drive O, and making sure that you copy the PorterCars.txt file from the network share onto the each client that Cars is installed onto (if you don't, Cars won't be able to find the data files). I've also included my copy of PorterCars.txt for you to have a look at, but really it's only the top four lines that are of any use.
Hi tosca925, I hate to resurrect an old thread from the dead BUT believe it or not - I have been asked to install this on our 2008R2/Win7 network! I have exactly the same error run-time error 75 but only when I run it as a student - I have given students full control of the folder where Maths in Motion has been installed. The phone number on the paperwork for this software is not recognised.
Any help would be muchly appreciated!!
