SMART Product Drivers and Notebook 10
I am aware there are similar posts already on the forums. But none are as clear as i hoped.
The past few days ive been trying to roll out a working package of SMARTBoard 10 for our CC3 Network.
Using the Install manager i have been able to create the 2 .mst files (1 for notebook and 1 for product drivers) to my preference and then saving it to the appropriate folder.
After this i open app wizard up, and create the packages so they can then be allocated to workstations.
I have then edited the .ini file (in the package server) with 'WITransform=drivers.mst' and then saved it. (same goes for notebook.mst)
I allocate the package to my test workstation, but this never seems to work :/. i have tried using Orca to apply the transform before creating the package in app wizard, this does not work for me either and the final result being 'Install_Failed' on both packages.
Has anyone else had this problem? or Am i doing something stupidly wrong?
Much Appreciated if you guys can help me with this!

If it helps, here are my installation notes for my working CC3 versions of Smart drivers and notebook.
+installed 'install manager' on server
+used app wiz to add drivers .msi to packge area
+used install manager to alter driver settings (disable update) and create config .xml file (so can make alterations in future) then to publish transform to package folder.
+added transform line to drivers .ini to point it to drivers .mst
+used app wiz to add notebook .msi to pacakge area
+used install manager to alter notebook settings (disable update again and put in path to gallery) and create config .xml file (so can make alterations in future) then to publish transform to package folder.
+added transform line to notebook .ini to point it to notebook .mst
+allocated to station to test

These were the ones i was using Sparkeh, i was going to message you privately. But i didnt want to waste your time. AppAgent installed these packages for you fine then? Cause its really not liking me as much!

I found that I couldn't reliably deploy these over a CC3 network using the original MSI and a transform. I think the notebook software would install, but the drivers wouldn't. This was all done without any repackaging though, I'm not sure which way you are doing it. You can use TEC21757 to create RM installers without repackaging - just copy your source files into the package area and create a .ini file for it.

Yep they install fine. Does the event log on the effected machine tell you anything more about why the install failed?

Well ive managed to install it completely fine! visually SmartBoard 9.7 was uninstalled. but event viewer said different. i ran the board95cleanup.exe and reset the machine again. with INSTALL_PENDING on both packages. this did the trick! Now i need to find a way of creating a batch file to silently clean the interactive whiteboard machines so i can push this package out with no more issues!
I dont suppose you have any idea on this?
Thank you for your kind help sparkeh.

Well you could create a package with the cleanup exe and allocate it to the whiteboard machines?

I had thought this first, but its an .exe file. i was told this wouldn't work unless it was .msi?

You can allocate out exe files no problem but you need to create them manually on the server.
Are you able to do this or need talking through it?

if you could talk me through it that would be great sparkeh, if you dont mind of course?

* Logon to server and navigate to D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Packages\Applications
* Create a folder called "Smart 9 cleanup"
* Within that folder create a folder called "V126.96.36.199"
* Within that folder place board95cleanup.exe
* Create a file called "Smart 9 cleanup.ini"
* Edit the file to look like this:
Description=Cleanup tool for Smart 9
*Update the package list in RMMC and it should appear.
*Test out by allocating to one machine to test it out.
Let me know if you have any issues.

hey sparkeh, i just tested this package. it worked but didnt work, so to speak. but when the clean up is complete, it asks for user input:
Yes to restart
No to Not Restart
I can initiate a restart to the machine using the RMMC, but this causes it to try and install the package again.
I need the computer to restart so it tells RMMC that it has installed successfully. This is a promising start though!

ah right. We need to find the switch for a silent install. I'll have a look tomorrow.

Morning Sparkeh, only just got your message from Thursday evening. I tried to find some switches for a silent install last week but had no luck. If only this was an msi!!

Hmm the program is waiting for a response and without a silent option we are scuppered there.
Have you tried extracting the exe and seeing if there is an msi in there? You might be lucky.
