Default Adobe Acrobat Reader 8

I am currently having a problem installing acrobat reader 8 with group policy, i am able to deploy it to my test machine it works all fine.

The problem is that our teachers laptop are set to work offline, and when they go home, acrobat reader will not load as if it is trying to access something on our server or even the internet.

I assume the problem is something on our server that it needs to access, because it does the same with version 7.

has anyone else experienced this problem before, i have looked on the net and here but i have found no references to it.

Tom

Try using the Adobe Customization Wizard 8 which is downloadable from Adobe see the URL below.

For Acorbat reader 7 there used to be something called the Insall Shield Tuner which has been replaced now with this Cusomization wizard.

Hope this helps

i used the customization wizard to create the msi for deployment, and installed it. Adobe works fine when you are connected to the network. Even when you install it from the exe file manually, the same problem comes up once the users log offline.

It applies all the nice things suggested here: http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/detail.asp?id=915

Just gets rid of autoupdater and stuff so some of these might be causing your problem?

I have repackaged reader8.exe which found on the net. I have installed it from a command line interface and it install silently. I must admit i have only tried this on a couple of pc's and it seems to be fine. I am willing to let people have this but they must use it their own risk. As i mentioned i found it on a website and have not deployed it to the masses yet but you are welcome to est/try it if you wish.

PM me if you would like to try it out.

Just follow the instructions on appdeploy to get hold of the msi and related files from your temp directory and then deploy that with my transform?

i have been able to get this to install silently my problem is that teachers going offline, acrobat reader 7 and 8 bring up differnt errors. 7 says An Internal Error Occured, but it works fine as soon as i connect the network cable in and let it sychronise back to the network. i cant remember the error exactly but 8 says acroread.exe and a fatal error.

it has to be something on the server it neads to run but i cant figure out what.
