Digital Blue Movie Maker 3.1.1
Guys and Gals
I've searched the forum and got snippets of useful info but nothing definitive, what is the best way to install this, ideally I would like to do the following if possible:
1. Install via GPO assigned apps or logon script
2. have all movies/userfiles on the server
3. Have the drivers install ok when the user plugs in the camera in any USB port.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction.
Cheers all

1st February 2010, 02:35 PM #2 3 and above allow network install via msi and a quick reg file can make the save directorys on the server but it does create a dir in there for every user so you end up with something like
\\server\dbfiles$\user1
\\server\dbfiles$\user2
\\server\dbfiles$\user3
\\server\dbfiles$\user4
.......
and from 2.1 and above the drivers are signed so should install for any user no need to go round every pc plugging a camera into any port anymore thank

Hi Thanks
What reg changes are needed ?
And the MSI that comes on the DMC 3 cd can be used in GPO ? No need to amend ?
Cheers

the exact reg changes i cant remember but install it on a pc and hklm\software\digiblue . . .
its really obvious iirc (im in a different school and lea's internet provider keeps blocking logmein so i cant check
only change i remember doing to the msi was running msiexec /a on the file on the cd and deploying that output rather than the msi directly off the cd

Are the drivers installed as part of this or are they separate and did you have to change any driver GPOs or anything else ?

1st February 2010, 07:01 PM #7 Sorry - is someone saying some updated DigiBlue can be installed via simple script/msi.
I always thought it was one of those manual install jobs
If so - is there a link to to the new DigiBlue msi?
regards
Simon

no point v3 only works with v3 cameras v2 with v2 cameras and v1 with v1 cameras
v3 msi's out quite happily just takes ages
v2.1 has signed drivers and can be rolled out via script
v1 i havnt looked at for ages

Hi Thanks
im ready to roll this out have my /a outputted MSI and folders, do i need to install anything sever side ? As ive seen the network install part from the batch file which uses :
SETUP.EXE /VNETWORK_INSTALL=Yes
Do i still need to do this part or not, also is thr registry change just to tell DMC where the save as location is ?

2nd February 2010, 12:46 PM #10 just add the msi to a deploy gpo (or create one for it depends how you do software) and the reg file just changes the save location to wherever you want rather than c:

Also can i change the registry path for the user fiels to the users home drive or does there need to be some files in there that they all share ? As i see a common folder with lots of AVIs in once installed on the client.

2nd February 2010, 12:51 PM #12 i think you can redirect it to users home area assuming all users have say a u drive thats their user area. i diddnt look at that i wanted it all in 1 place so i can back it up or not depending on free backup space
