    Techsoft 2D Design

I was handed a new version of 2D Design today for the Head of Technology. They have had it apparently since May, even though they knew we were creating new images for their room in June.

I see that it looks like the registration disc is still on a floppy as well. I wondered if anyone had deployed this through GPO.
Does it come with msi or does it need a repackage. (I have not physically looked at the discs yet)
If it does deploy somehow what do you think will happen to the current version on the PC?

I get an horrible feeling that a new RIS image is coming on, or should say 2 new RIS has Technology have two types of PC.

If it's anything like the previous version just install it on a client register it and then copy the install directory to a shared network folder and run it from there.

It's such a basic program runs fine like that.

Otherwise I had to repackage the last verison.

Is that version 2.* or 1.6.*? We've been waiting for version 2 for a while now, but last time we spoke to them (mid-October) it wasn't finished.

Main difference with 1.6* is that you can import bitmaps. They still haven't solved the problems with saving to network drives though.

Install was easy IIRC but how do you run the registration? --spose a simple batch to run it from the server would do..

The versions we have 1.26 & 1.6* allow you to save foo01 to a network drive. If you then try to save over foo01, it doesn't let you, but will allow you to save as foo02. Overwriting on local drives works fine, but network drives b0rk. This only happens in 2D Design and the last we heard from Techsoft was that they knew of the problem, but didn't have a fix.

    Re: Techsoft 2D Design

I've just found out its v1.6. It has it sown msi install nut when i tried to vreate a transform with Wise Taillor during the snapshot for the transform you never ger prompted to add the code. Oh well look like a repackage.

Just out of interest what are yourt views on installing the repackage through GPO to computers that already have the older software version already installed?

If i have to do a new RIS image i have to do 2 new images because we have 2 types of diferent PC's in 2 different rooms.

    2D Design Student version

    Hi
We have 2D Design v2, and also a student version for the pupils to have at home; however, there seems to be some confusion over whether this version will allow the students to save what they do. Anyone have any experience with this and could confirm whether they should be able to save or not, please? The Save and Save As options on the file menu are greyed out.

    Thanks
    Stephen

To install v2 there are msi's provided and all you need to do is to have the registration file in the correct place.

The student version will allow the students to save but not print out.

Be careful if you currently use ver 1 to drive a denford machine such as a mill, you still need to keep ver 1 to do this as v2 does not have the denford extensions anymore.

We deploy ours via GPO using the files that came with it.
The reg key, we added that when we were making our profiles.
Havnt had any compaints yet. .
