Free Screen Recording Software?

I've sen the old post that asked the same question.

Was just wondering if anyone has got a newer version. We need to allow the kids to record the screen for their ocr national gcse's.

any msi's?

I think you can get fraps but not sure about the free part.

We have a teacher here that made it his mission to perfect the art of free screen recording! The solution follows...

1. Windows Media Encoder
2. Windows Media Codecs - cannot remember where these came from (MS site somewhere)
3. Disable hardware acceleration on the video card - for some reason this makes it run a lot smoother

I've just noticed that there's a new version of Encoder too for converting into Silverlight
