Serif movieplus x3 video locking error
A pupil in one of ICT suites was having problems with serif movieplus x3 today when she clicked on a saved project it through up an error saying that the video is locked then tries to connect to the internet do download the correct codec which I think is an mpeg4 then fails.
I installed cole2k on the image for that room last year and never had any problems untill now because we now give the pupils the option of movie maker and serif, alot of the pupils are opting for the serif because its something new to them and I need a quick fix does anyone have ideas?
I think its a permissions thing myself and I would imagine I need to edit the registry on each machine but I am not to sure where to start.
I have attached screen shots of the error and would appreciate any thaughts.

According to the installation documentation (when I installed X3 a year ago), users of this app need to have access to the Serif Codec unlocking server. I rang Serif to ask for further information and received this email back:

Below is the address for the unlock server

I put the serif website for unlocking the video's in our our smoothwalls allowed list but the pupils still kept getting the error. The only way I have managed to solve the problem is to delete the users local profile.
When a user opens serif for the very first time it creates a proxy.dat file in the following location C:\Documents and Settings\grahamj\Application Data\Serif\MoviePlus\6.0 that you cannot edit we deleted it from one machine but we still had the problem, Serif also creates a reg key somewhere the users registry that also references to the proxy settings.
We had switched Internet provider recently so our default gateway had changed so Serif had the wrong proxy settings and wasn't allowing users to get out on the web.
It was a bit of pain really but we have managed to find a working solution.

We're having exactly the same problem. Currently trying to sort it out with RM support. What exactly did you have to do to stop the error?

The only way we could fix the problem was to delete the users local profile, what operating system are yopu using?
