I have a major problem with activstudio 2 that nobody seems to have the answer for.
On about 8 out 0f 10 pc's with activstudio 2 on, the text whilst writing will jump down about 1 inch, at first i thought the projector had slipped when i saw it but then when you click the undo button the text goes back up to it's original position and you can start writing again.
On 1 of the pc's all the text you have written will completly disappear but if you press the undo button it will all come back and you can start writing again.
I have spoken to promethean and they have no idea of what could be causing the problem, has anyone out there encountered a similar problem? If so please help, my head hurts from hitting the desk so much.

We have one that the user says comes up with a text marquee box even when she hasn't selected it but the trouble is that everytime I walk in the room the laptop and board behave perfectly.
What version of the drive and software are you running?

I'm running driver version 3.0.0 and activstudio 2.1.3 on the boards that the text jumps on, the other board has been upgraded to the latest driver v 3.0.5 and activstudio 2.5.82.

I spoke to Promethean (again) and got the 3rd different person in 3 phone calls, this guy recommended changing vga drivers and trying a different spec PC.
Tried a different spec PC with the user account that's having problems, it worked fine.
changed vga drivers, the problem was still there. I'm going to put a vga card in the PC to see if that solves the problem, if so it's purchasing time.

Surely if it was a VGA issue IE projection issue, the text should jump about if you start drawing it in paint and thing? I must admit though from my last place, promethean boards seem to rely on top notch VGA setings where as others do seem to not be as fussy.

I've put a 128Mb Ati card in now, lets see what happens on Monday. I also installed the latest drivers from ATI.

Just found out the 128Mb ATI radeon does the same thing. Why does it feel like promethean can't be bothered to help me......

Re: ActivStudio 2 PE
There is a few more things to try
1. Change the graphics card to 16bit (if not already done so)
2. Turn off "High Quality Lines and Shapes" in the Studio Settings > Flipchart objects.
3. It maybe a case of the whiteboard pen stroke emulating a non standard mouse shortcut. So what you are seeing is the scroll bar at the side moving.
To get rid of this scroll bars permanently you can go into studio settings and select the flipchart section and set default page scale to height fit.

Have you got a administrative point to group policy deploy ActivStudio 2 PE and/or driver?
Both the driver and the software versions you are using are old i.e.
driver - 3.0.5
activstudio 2 PE - 2.5.82
I suggest you update them to the latest versions too if you can.
If you don't have a administrative point, just run the setup of your CD from the command prompt / run like this:
setup /a
and when asked for the network location, install it to a folder on a network share that contains the appropriate permissions for GP [if you don't want to GP deploy it, then thats fine but u can still do this to have a up-to-date install point].
I hope my syntax is correct
You can then apply the updates [in order] in the same way to update the install point, then away you go
Just a quick stab at remembering what i did.

Derek
If you need me to pop in on the way to work one morning there would be no trouble.
It would be interesting seeing the problem you are experiencing first hand.

Well i never, i did not know you could do a admin install of this software.
You can then apply the updates [in order] in the same way to update the install point, then away you go
How would you do this? (sorry if i appear a little dense on this subject)
Another little question......i have got AcvtiveStudio2 on staff laptops that is part of the image. If i create a admin install of the latest version with drivers and then deploy via GPO will it update the laptop by over installing/upgrading or will it provide a clean install( which means it will have two versions on there?
