I had a chat with someone at Link2ICT before half term who assured me PCE 3.0.0.9 would be released and tested during half-term, but unfortunately they're still waiting for the update. It isn't Link2ICT's fault for the delay, however, it was still Link2ICT who have recommended this software.

If you search these forums I'm pretty sure I remember writing months ago I'd never recommend or use this software if I was heading the project. It's fine how it works in principle, but it's blatantly causing too much disruption to children's learning and I have a big problem with that.

How do you remove the client. I accidently installed it on the server and i thought id uninstalled it but ive realised there's a process still running. Reboot?
Yes a reboot is required once you've uninstalled the software. I wouldn't recommend you deploy the client on your server, only host the share on the server.

Seriously the best advice is to use Firefox wherever you can. I came to the conclusion this problem would be forever on-going, as Microsoft release security patches, Forensic play 'catch up'. Since deploying Firefox internet connectivity has become far less of an issue.

Not being funny, but its hardly a soloution to the problem, we have over 600 clients running PCE, with IE locked down with various group policy settings, surely installing Firefox will create more security issues, its just moving the problem around

Being totally honest I had exactly the same thoughts/opinion as you initially, but the Microsoft patch in question was released in June 2009 and we're now in November 2009 and still waiting for a PCE patch.

I spent many hours researching FF and the link I gave you was/is a locked down version of FF. I've also provided instructions so you can specify your own custom settings from what I have created. In total I probably support about the same number of machines, maybe a little more, over various sites and it has worked very well.

    Removing Client

    Hi Little Miss
I did the same a while ago and the client just wouldnt uninstall. They can send you a utility which will remove it if need be.

I take it nobody has heard anything about the update yet? I just phoned link2ICT and they just forwarded me to forensic (who didn't answer the phone)

They got me to test a patch at the begining of last week and so far so good. All it does is replace a PCE .dll

Im testing it on around 10 computers and see what happens. I asked them that what happens if internet explorer does updates again and we could have the same situation again? And they said quite possibly. Doesnt really fill me with confidence!!!!!

I was told on Friday by Forensics that a fix for the IE performance issue should be available next week, followed 10-20 days later by PCE 3100.

Amazing really but the last I heard was the uninstaller didnt work, well not for me anyway!
Try asking L2ICT to get one of their PCE people to come on remote for you.
