    Speed Step (ProPainter and ProSketch)

    Hi Guys,

Wonder if you could help me. I've been given this software by our textiles teacher and we're having a hell of a time with it.

We've managed to set up the server install (with USB dongle) and deploy the client out to the required machines. But it seems very glitchy, it's not saving in the right format (only one option given), the students can't control the trace option correctly, tool bars come and go as they please and it is missing some stitch samples on some machines. There is a standalone option for the install but that has most of the same problems as above.

I haven't had any luck contacting the software manufacturers (in Germany), the UK based reseller or the teacher's accredited trainer (a message has been left with the husband though...). I have got in touch with the teacher's last school who managed to get it up and running (though it again took ages and had the same problems as above).

The teacher is convinced the software should work but I have my doubts. Basically I wanted to hear if anyone else uses/has tried using this software and what success they had.

    Cheers,

    Ben

Thanks for the reply, I'm happy to hear anything at the moment!

Did you do anything outside of the supplied instructions? Do you mind me asking if you run RM or a vanilla network?

    Cheers.

The only thing I can think that we did differently is setup the clients manually, rather than deploy it, have you tried this on a computer?

Get the latest version - it took us 2 YEARS to get it working here properly as the software and server install is plagued with problems & issues. We kept pushing them to send us the latest version (they admitted to us it had "issues"), and finally one version managed to work properly.

Getting hold of anyone with a brain there is impossible as they don't really have "technicial support".

Had problems on our previous RM network, & our current Vanilla one!

Yeah, myself and a colleague went round the machines and installed the client from the CD. Same issues sadly.

That sounds like the response I've been getting, I've been looking at cadinschools.org and apparently there is a new version of the driver for the dongles so I'm going to give that a whirl. Were you able to get the latest version from Speed Step themselves or was it the re-seller (in our case The D&T Association). We're running a vanilla network and have never had this much trouble with a piece of software.

    Appreciating the responses.
