DiDA Using ICT - Software problem
We have recently purchased 'Edexcel DiDA Using ICT ActiveTeach' CD-Rom and 'Students ActiveBook' CD-Rom. I have been trying to run these from disc and also from a local installation with out much success. 8O All I get is a white screen. Having looked into it on the centraal.uk.knowledgebox.com, as mention in the CD readme file, there is a problem with UNC redirection on the Application Data folder.
We currently have Windows 2003 servers with XP clients. Students have local profiles with Folder redirections (including Applicataion Data :? ). The following web page states that because of improvements to Flash Player (mm... :x ) UNC redirection via GPOs are not supported. I have the same problem with Dreamweaver.
Anyone else had the same problem? Making changes from UNC to map drives would be a big job; just for one programme.
Michael.

In my only dealings with this piece of you-know-what, we created a virtual CD image and let the kiddies use that. The software still didn't work 100% but the classteacher felt able to cope

This is similar to a problem I had with Nelson Thornes software (see the recent threads).
Tootle off to the Adobe website and download the Flash uninstaller and the latest version of Flash. There is a bug in one of the versions of Flash that doesn't allow certain content to run for anyone but administrators. You must use the uninstaller to remove the existing version of Flash before you install the new version.

... and for those who didn't know, there's an MSI for DiDA Student.
The white screen is cause by Flash. We had it as well and as stated earlier an upgrade fixed it. Also if you're running it from a CD server (as we did initialy) you'l need to run a reg patch to enable them so see the help files.

slightly off beam, but all of a sudden this afternoon pupils couldn't access DiDA, this is why someone up above had blocked *dida* without consulting schools.

Re: DiDA Using ICT - Software problem
Managed to fix this problem. I created a wrapper vbs / exe which mapped the users Application Data directory to a drive letter and updated the registry. On exiting the registery is amended back and map drive is removed.
Works fine for all the DiDa products.
