Have Symantec Backup Exec 11d running on a windows 2003 R2 Standard server. It fails to complete any back up job to it's LTO 400 tape drive reporting: "The job was automatically cancelled because it exceeded the job maximum configuration time". Not a huge lot of data to back up certainly well in the capabilities of the tape drive. Anyone el;se come across tis one before and if so did and how did you solve it please. OOps! My bad just seen:
Windows 2003 and veritas backup exec 11D
Now going away to work on some of the solutions offered there!

We are using Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 and LTO3 and we were getting very variable results on backup results [time-outs included]
We eventually tracked it down to items sitting on top of the tape library. We had not considered these items as they were so light but since removing them and having the library repaired we have had 100% successful backups.
Could be a possibility?
