Software request: display one piece of text at a time

Want to find the best software for showing one piece of a text at a time to a year 7 class. Needs to be simple. Did think Powerpoint but do you know if we have an alternative?

I have also looked a jMemorise which is very good but probably not simple enough.

I think what the teacher wants is to be able to do is have a word list in a text file. Open that text file with this software and project each word on to a white board then advance to the next word with the space bar.

Anybody know of a freebie that will do this?

If powerpoint is too hard for the teacher, point at the dry wipe board!

Notepad++ looks to be a nice notepad replacement but I cant see how to make it do what I want it to.
