    Communicate In Print 2

I am trying to install this locally on a machine - the install goes fine, I sort out the read only files and all appears to be working...but, after about 3 mins the MFC error message comes up and the application closes. Has anyone encountered this? I have looked at the enormously long error message but I don't know what to look for.
    All help gratefully received

This software is extremely unreliable and their technical support were unable to fix problems. This was quite some time ago. You could try contacting their support and see if you have better luck than I did.

I had issues with this software, which for us is meant to be networked but I couldn't get it to work like that. Installed on local machine with a local user in the administrators group, which is less than useful in this environment.

The software still didn't work as it should and is very rarely used now. Which is also less than ideal given the cost.

Thanks for that info - I can't have local admins, unfortunately.
Just what I need, another problem I am unable to solve: that makes 3 this week. People are starting to look sideways at me and I KNOW they are thinking - she can't do her job, can she?

I didn't want local accounts let alone local admins, but that was the only way I could get it to work.

The issue is not whether or not you can do your job, in my opinion it is with those onlookers who do not understand the situation. Users generally believe what it says on the box, which as we know all too well is not always the case.

Right - well I have fixed it - I think
I uninstalled everything - cleaned up the registry, installers etc
Reinstalled the software - all fine - but on running it I then got a completely DIFFERENT MFC error message that pointed me at some text-to-speech software installed somewhere else on the computer which I didn't put there and have no idea what it is for. SO I deleted it and installed the text-to-speech bit off the disc...
And Voila! It seems to work at the moment
    Don't know why. Don't care
Only 20 problems left on my list (sung to the tune of '10 green bottles')
    thanks guys

Brilliant, well done:-) Might try that when I can remember which machine I put it on! And when I have time of course - Ofsted visiting this week so everything will be manic.

I installed CIP on 8 laptops and it disappeared on 7 of them, reinstalled and it seems ok now, strange though!

    That is strange, @compsue
I have installed it many times since 2008 and the only way I can get it to work properly is by setting the permissions on the CIP and Widget folders so that everyone can do everything.

This post is quite old now, but I have found that installing the latest patch 2.80.675 makes a huge difference

I've found the patch does improve the reliability and prevents it crashing every few minutes. On a separate note, I've found the files you save don't have Windows file associations, so you must open Communicate In-Print first, then the file. Opening from Explorer doesn't work. This is something I'd expect to see from 1995, not 2013!

What I've never quite understood with Communicate In-Print is that the developers could easily make this a toolbar for MS Word for example, rather than create a full application from scratch. I've had staff say this to me and I have to agree.

Are you guys able to use this fully when offline? I have a user who is trying to use it from home (RDS) but she doesn't get the pics at all. when the software loads its brings up an error msg-The wordlist file cannot be opened, then dialect spellings cannot be open. The software was installed on the server by the company that manages out servers

I've had a similar problem happen - an in place repair fixed it for us.
