Just had this email from a colleague:

This appears to be a hugely comprehensive managed learning environment
application. Open Source of course! Have a look at the product summary
page to get a feel for what it can do http://dotlrn.org/product/
Also there are some good Flash demos of many of the applications at
http://www.dotlrn.org/demos-dotlrn/
There is an internationalisation package for UK English, but not Cymraeg so
far.
Looks a long way ahead of Moodle to me.
In terms of technology, this is a bit out of the mainstream. It is based on
open sourced AOL technology which provides a comprehensive, standardised
application runtime and development platform. See http://openacs.org/

Apparently .LRN requires quite a different web server setup and needs
an Oracle or Postgres database - both more complex database systems to
setup and manage than MySQL.
I just want to know why I haven't seen this recomended.
