Has anyone setup an oracle system for Pupils to use in the same way as M$ Access? Unix or MS server and a windows client or UNIX Hyperterminal?

Not an Oracle server, We have some students using MySQL for a PHP project.
THey have their own accounts on the linux server so they could access using putty through windows clients, but the teacher prefers them to use phpmyadmin as a gui for MySQL.

orcale server databases patch system is useless fom what i understand as they only release patches every quater....
