Hi all i just downloaded and installed the mediawiki software installed on this site but can't figure how to add newly created pages to my sidebar menu and turn off editing for usrs that are not logged on, i did look at the help files for the editing and did as it said but no joy.

Any help as always appreciated.

You need to check out the MediaWiki wiki... http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:LocalSettings.php is a good start for editing permissions.

The sidebar is a special page... http://www.example.com/wiki/index.php/MediaWiki:Sidebar will show you a list that you can edit (if you have the correct permissions).

cheers Ric_ i had looked at that mediawiki wiki and managed to change the logo no problem, when i launch the side bar URL it tells me There is currently no text in this page ? i ought to have permissions to edit, create etc as i set it up?
Not sure why but i was expecting it to be far more intuitive than it is ala mambo, joomla ...
