We had a phone call on friday saying that the sofware has been upgraded
We need to unistall everything, including the clients and reinstall with the upgradeed software :x Luckily I'd only installed in on 3 machines as its not being used here until Feb 2008
The joys!

Verily it is a piece of poo! It wouldn't auto install either - so we had to do it by hand. What junk! Bring back ExamBase!

You are joking me. Bah. 60 PC's to install it on, and the server again. Bring back the old version.

I've had no such call, and it's running this minute, hope it's ok.
ExamBase was so much better

As i've said in another post
e-mail
onscreentesting@edexcel.org.uk and make it for the attention of Emma Vann
Tell them you want Exambase back. I have, this is what Support told me to do when i said i want Exambase back. We just need enough people to tell them were not happy with Promissor!
Just send them a brief e-mail saying why you want Exambase back and why Promissor is so poo.

What's even more entertaining about it is that you can get the students sat down, they connect to do a test and then the software says "there is a new version of the software available" and terminates!
So if a new version of the software arrives just before a test - guess what - - the test don't work!!!

Ahem. Personally I think this is the best testing software I have seen (so far). I haven't seen Exambase so can't compare the two, but I have seen ECDL software in action and that was total pap! I've also experienced Edexcel testing system for Administration and that was a bloated piece of crapware too.
You should be receiving notification e-mails 30 days in advance when there is an upgrade to Promissor available. For the last upgrade all I had to do was uninstall server software (currently using a PC in the computer room as the Promissor server, but we will probably move it to the file server eventually) and install the new version. Then I went round each client, logging in as admin and running the Promissor client software which picked up the update from the server PC and installed it. Job done.
One reason the client software might terminate is that the 30 day grace period has probably ended.

Perhaps you need to set it up with Promissor? We primarily use Promissor for City & Guilds tests (for the Agricultural, Engineering and Construction departments), and it's actually the invigilators/test managers that get the notification e-mails which they then forward to me.

None here either. Checked with the exams officer and she knew nothing. Hope the client/admin/whatever they call it bit does auto upgrade this time as they say it will.
There will be email from me about exambase, well a slightly updated version, but it was still a great system.
