Hi All,
Please help I have kids wanting to hand in their final pieces before tomorrows deadline and I have a problem with Pro/desktop.
We have a few kids who have been working on their designs, they have come to open the final work and whilst the image is in the preview the prgram stalls with the following message
"The command has been aborted. An internal error in Pro/DESKTOP. It is most likely that doing the same thing will produce the same error."
They cannot open the piece of work and it is urgent i find a fix. Please could any one offer any help?
the machines are Dell optima desktops and all are on XP with sp2
Kindest regards

Discussed here: http://www.prodesktop.net/htdocs/dcf...mID1/1785.html
Don't know if those suggestions will fix it for you, worth a try.

 hi jona,
Thank you for the quick response but neither of those solutions worked in this case. I still get the error when I try to open work.

that sucks, it might be worth installing the software on a Admin (e.g. non restricted machine) to see if you can do the process there.
I've had problems with Pro desktop on cc3 in the past for example.

"It is most likely that doing the same thing will produce the same error."
Isn't that 100% obvious already?

Have you switched off the graphics acceleration as well as the 2 fixes? Graphics acceleration is usually the problem in Pro/D.
The other 2 fixes have sorted problems for us recently although it seems fairly random which one is required to repair it.

Re: Pro/Desktop 8. "the command has been aborted" error
We have had a similar problem and managed to fix it by reducing the hardware accelaration. Disabling the cursor and bitmap accelatarations solved this problem. I cant remember whether turning off the graphics accelaration completely caused other problems with it. Sorry it was a while ago now.

No joy on any of those hints though. tried tick in and out of box for graphics acceleration. no luck.
I really really need to get to the bottom of this. We had a problem earlier when the extrution toolbar wouldn't work but that got fixed by going to every pc as an administrator and doing one drawing then closing.
I still need help if there is any out there. Oh and thanks to all so far they have been good ideas just not the right one yet.

We had this when we installed v8. It doesn't like advanced graphics. There's a script to type in (as admin). It may need a .dll file on the server (I'll ask Techie on Tuesday).
Log on as admin: Run : type in "regsvr32^/sgranite_com.dll", (no " marks) where ^ is a space. It may be worth trying in case it turns off something.

I had this exact problem, eventhough it was on the same computer hardware and same image for the whole network i would have random machines with this error, i tried all the fixes suggested with no joy. I re-installed the application from the CD and it fixed the error.

8th December 2010, 04:22 PM #11 After getting ProDesktop to settle down and work we have now begun to have this problem.
I have tried:
- Ticking/un-ticking the Tools/Options/Performance/Disable graphics hardware acceleration box
- Running "regsvr32 /sgranite_com.dll" as administrator [without the quotes]
- Looking at this webpage:
Link: Discussion Board
However the page does not load.
I have also tried:
Goto Start button > type CMD press <enter>
Type
C: <enter>
cd C:\program files\ptc\prodesktop 8.0\program <enter>
prod /regserver <enter>
Has anyone got ProDesktop to work solving this issue without a full re-install?
Many thanks.

17th April 2012, 02:04 PM #13 I had this issue. Try right clicking on the shortcut and Running as administrator, I found you only need to do this once and it works from then on. Must right a file somewhere. It worked for me !!
