    Lego Mindstorms EV3

    Hello!

    Has anyone got this to install over the network? We are CC4 here and I'm struggling with it....I believe all the options\switches are correct in my package.

    Thanks,

    gmj

    Not sure what version of it we run, but we deploy Lego Mindstorms over the network.

    Our line is this:
    Code:
    \\ServerNameStuff\Lego_Mindstorms_NXT\Bin\silent_install.txt /q /acceptlicenses yes
    running against the setup.exe

    Many thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve.

    Many thanks for the reply. May I ask what your slient_install.txt looks like? I fear that something is amiss in mine.

    Thanks,

    gmj

    Hi gmj,

    How did it go? I previously used Lego NXT and installed using the silent install as Steve showed above, but I have just upgraded to EV3 and I haven't found any instructions on how to do a network install and there is no equivalent silent install batch. If you have worked it out then please post how you did it.

    Regards,

    Allister

    Hi Allister.

    Got it working (ish) in the end. Followed a similar Install as the one that Steve provided:

    ; -------------------------- How to use this file ---------------------------------
    ;
    ; To run this installer in quiet mode:
    ; 1. Edit the information below to match your company information and install location.
    ; 2. Run : setup.exe <path to this file> /q /AcceptLicenses yes. Passing the value "yes"
    ; to the /AcceptLicenses parameter indicates that you agree with the license agreements.
    ; Alternatively, instead of /q, /qb can be used to run the installer in basic UI mode.
    ; 3. The installer will automatically restart your system after the installation is done.
    ; To prevent the restart use the command line : setup.exe <path to this file> /r:n /q /AcceptLicenses yes
    ;
    ; For more information on installation automation visit Info Codes - National Instruments and enter the infocode exdir3.

    ; -------------------------- Set feature states ---------------------------------
    ; The valid feature states are: Local, Absent, NoChange, Default
    ; Local - Install it (on the local hard drive). If already installed leave it installed.
    ; Absent - Do not install it. If already installed uninstall it.
    ; NoChange - Do not install it. If already installed, leave it installed.
    ; Default is equivalent to not listing the feature in this file. The feature follows its default behaviour.

    [Features]
    LEGO_EV3_EDU_Feature.EV3.EDU.100=Local

    ; -------------------------- Set install directories ---------------------------------
    ; *** To use the default paths, remove the following section***

    [Directories]
    LEGO_EV3_EDU_Feature.EV3.EDU.100=C:\Program Files\Legosoftware

    ; -------------------------- Set general installation settings ---------------------------------
    [InstallationType]
    ;uncomment one of the following lines for student vs teacher install
    DefaultRadioButton=TeacherInstall
    ;DefaultRadioButton=StudentInstall

    ---

    I then created an RM CC3 ini file and imported it as an CC3 package (we are a CC4 network). Works...kinda. Will allocate out and install, however will only install the student edition, not the teacher edition. The switch seems to be irgonored on this option. Also, the package will not uninstall from a workstation. However, as it is only been used in one computer lab, this has not really been an issue.

    Found a workaround that works

    Found it here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-for-...ght/true#M2322

    Just change your ini file Features section to this:

    [Features]
    LEGO_EV3_EDU_Feature.EV3.EDU.100=
    EV3_EDU_Mode.EV3.EDU.MODE.100=Local

    Tested it for my own installations (deploying with SCCM to several teacher machines) and it works.

    Where do you get the serial number? We got an 18-digit activation code that we used to get a link to the download site but didn't get a serial number. Am I missing something?
