We have just rebuilt a workstation, installed Visual Express, and then used Ghost to deploy the image out to an ICT Suite.
When you go to use Visual Express, it comes up with the following error message:
vbexpress.exe
The application failed to initialize properly. Click on OK to terminate the application.
It works fine on the original workstation, and the only thing we have done is cloned it.
Any ideas why it would not work after being cloned?
thanks
Jim

I also had problems trying to achieve something similar. When reading the licence it is not intended to be used for deployment at a school. If you do need development software like this, you might want to think about the MSDN Academic Alliance agreement which will give you a licence to install the full visual studio (as well as many other pieces of software) on all the ICT computers for a single flat fee of (IIRC) approx 250ukp.

Thanks for your replies.
I have done a bit more research, and found that you have to register each installation separately, so it is not going to work when cloned.
ops:
cheers,

Re: Visual Express not working after cloning.
This usually depends on the license type you are using to install. A single user license (Free/Open Ac/Student) will generally not clone (ghost). If you are in a Select or Schools agreement you should then be able to clone using the Volume License Key provided. Unfortunately Express isn't available under either Select or Schools.
