    Re: OCR Software

The best one i have used was called ABBYY FineReader.

It is very good at sorting out images and tables.
Not sure on the price tho.

omnipage/omniport and Kofax VRS and ReadIRIS pro are the best on a budget. Kofax VRS in particular is a very good product.

If you buy an hp document scanner you get all of these bundled (the kofax software is oem'ed so you won't get some of the advance features of the full product).

If you've got a filenet P8 installation (which is highly unlikely), filenet capture is the best of all - but that really is high end stuff. Out of reach for all but the deepest pockets.

    Re: OCR Software

I've found that the OCR software bundled with Office has always given acceptable results although I've never needed to maintain complex layouts.
