    Photoshop CS3

    Hello
Has anyone got any info on how to use Photoshop, pref CS3
A friend of mine, who is an IT teacher, has an interview tomorrow and he has to do a lesson using Photoshop. His school doesnt have it and he is only vaguely familiar with it. The school he is going to apparently has CS3 and the only info he has is on the latest version - he doesnt know the differences. ANY help would be great
    thanks

There's a list of differences on Wikipedia: Adobe Photoshop version history - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CS3 isn't massively different though - most of the tools are still present and correct, I'd say the major change would be the missing Adjustments Pane (introduced in CS4). The tools are still there, just hidden in menus instead.

Products | Photoshop | Adobe TV has plenty of tutorials, you may be able to find CS3 specific videos there or on YouTube.

Thanks for the heads up about the adjustment pane.
We cannot find anything specific to CS3 yet.

There was content aware fill in CS5 but it's not a huge difference, only useful in some situations. I recall the UI changing between CS3 and CS4, and apparently it's changed again for CS6 (and presumably the new CC), but the only new tool I can actually recall since I started with Photoshop 7 (pre-CS) is the Black and White adjustment layer - and that was just a dedicated tool to replicate two Hue/Saturation layers. The bread & butter of it has been constant for a while IME.

Very unfair and it is a year 10 class and currently we only go up to year 8 so he has to contend with older children AND unfamiliar software

He should be able to download a 30 day trial from Adobe if he rings, they have a back catalogue on their site somewhere which they can give you access too. Worth a shot!

The difference is minimal - I have CS3 on my laptop and I run CS5.1 on my work laptop. The main difference is the magical content aware and other fill options, but there are other small differences. Oh yeah, and it looks a bit more Gucci!

@witch - are you still at the same email address you were in January 2012? I have a PDF from the CS5 teaching resources I can send over. If your email has changed, PM it to me anew!
