I've just been handed a copy of Pro Desktop 8 SP2 and some of the posts on here look worrying especially as the 2000i version we currently use works flawlessly.
Has anyone managed to deploy using group policy without issue or am i in for a bumpy ride? I've tried to repackage using WinInstall and it fails also.
Cheers.

Uhm... I have the SP2 MSI which deploys via GP no probs, if you would like it let me know. I'm not aware of any issues with it but I've just read some posts about extruding (?) and it crashes if not installed properly. Not had this issue that im aware of but will have to try and reproduce it somehow.

I think i've got a patch sorted.
The issue is after a frest install if you log on as a restricted user and try to use the extrude function (it's on one of the menus along the top) the application crashes.
Cheers.

You need to run extrude as an admin first (only have to do this once) then all users can extrude

Which isn't really acceptable is it?
What is that the program is using during the extrude or what files/reg setting does this create which a restricted user can't?

In our experience the crash while extruding an object is related to graphics acceleration - if you disable that in options it won't crash and you can change that setting as a user (I think - not got my test Virtual PC on at the moment!!)

There is a bug in the msi that can be fixed with a couple of simple edits in Orca, look for posts in the link from meastaugh1 and cookie_monster i had the same problem and meastaugh1s suggestion fixed it.

Oh make sure you follow the thread onto page 4 as there was another small fix later on. I've since deployed this onto 200 XP boxes without issue.
