Anyone installed this? You have to set the macro security in word to medium to let it work which then means pupils are faced with the do you want this macro to run box, is there anyway to set macro levels for all users without the question window appearing?

The three macro security levels are:-
High - will not run macros
Medium - asks whether you want to run macros everytime
Low - runs macros without asking
So to do what you want you simply have to set the security level to low - however this is not recommended because of the obvious security implications.
If you were confident enough in your anti-virus software then you could switch it to low I suppose - but not sure I would.

It's a pain to have a software package for primary schools that requires the pupils to have to allow macros, but I don't want to set the security to low, we have sophos installed but it's a pity the software companies don't have to experience 30odd 7 year olds with hands up saying what's this.

Re: Nelson thornes handwriting font
Yeah I came across the same thing but basically all they need to use are the fonts so I've just got everyone to open up Word as per normal and work away. No complaints about anything awry.
It's just when they go to the Nelson Thornes icon will it pop up the warning about the Macros. I think that just the splash page for the program is the reason for the macro warning..or?

@colingally - not quite true; although the fonts exist in "regular" macro-free Word, you can't get the full cursive (i.e. joined-up) text without using the macro, and some letters, f being one of them, look funny.

Will the kids use it that often? We have it but it's only ever used by staff. (For making resources, work sheets etc...)

@ eean - some of our kids us it when producing display work, or just if the teacher wants them to have a font on-screen which they can read - our Littlies use it in place of the normal.dot template file.

We have a mandatory profile for all the pupils.
In my case, all it would take is to make the pupil profile not madatory (rename ntuser.man to ntuser.dat).
I'd then make a child an administrator and move the child into Users in Active Directory
Then I'd logon as that child, use Word, get the message about the macro, tick the box for always trust macros from this source and OK it.
Logoff; rename ntuser.dat to ntuser.man; move child back out of Users and remove Admin privileges.
It should be fixed for every child then. the children would never see the message.
