google only have msi for paid version ...grrrrr

download sketchup and use 7zip or similar to extract the exe to a folder this will have the msi inside, did the same thing earlier this week.

If you need it sooner we got it from here: Google - SketchUp - 8 | ITNinja.

Follow the instructions and you should be fine.

Just done this myself, here are my notes:

Extracted msi from exe using 7zip

Added to installation command to stop toolbar install: INSTALLGOOGLETOOLBAR=0

Rolled out following reg frags:
To set default template and stop app checking for updates
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp8\Prefer ences]
"DefaultTemplate"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Google\\Google SketchUp 8\\Resources\\en-US\\Templates\\Temp01b - Simple.skp"
"CheckForUpdates"=dword:00000000

To disable the welcome screen
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp8\Welcom eDialog]
"ShowOnStartup"=dword:00000000

Job done.

I have the sketchup msi file extracted by 7zip but when I apply it to a PC in an OU using software installation package in GPO it doesn't install. Anyone know where I am going wrong?

Did you follow the instructions in the site? From memory ours is msiexec \\server2\apps\sketchip8.msi /q /n

Do you push that msiexec command out through group policy? Also which site do you mean sorry?
