We are going down the lines of recording pupil homework on our system for the kids... what do you guys use for this.. I am not really involved but have set up HAP v7 for remote access (brilliant) but a teacher has set up a word document for recording all staff homeworks.. very limited I know.
I did look at skydrive and its shared word feature which would solve the locked issues with word but its not ideal.

We started using the homework add-on to SLG for this, at the start of this academic year. I appreciate if you don't already use SLG, you're not going to implement it for this feature alone.

Take a look at The Weald School
Teachers able to set homework once they have logged in they choose the relevant dates and it automatically populates a list of relevant classes that they teach. Allows them to upload worksheets etc as attachments for the homework.
Kids can log in and view a calendar showing when homework is set, view their timetable, give feedback on the homework through the red, amber, green system.
Set up and designed by a colleague of mine and we currently have a few schools using it. If you would be interested in any more details feel free to PM your details i can pass them on and arrange a phone call / email
