Hmm...
Essential Qualifications, MCSE, MCP, Linux etc. and only a max £24,000. Usually start off lower anyway so its not that interesting.
Ashok.
+ Mileage, and the cost of living is much lower in Lancs than other parts of the country. And working for LCC carries a decent training budget, leave and flexi-time. Where are you based ashok? Could you fill in your profile please?
Very tempting, its the sort of thing I'm looking for, but as Leyland/Preston its a bit far for me to travel from Skipton.
As far as I've seen recently, Lancs are more generous with pay than N. Yorks, so I may be crossing the border one day.
We have one lady here who commuted from Skipton to Chorley and another who lives in Clitheroe. The roads are almost always clear so timings are OK. We are rolling out remote access to all systems and much wotk is done in East Lancs.
the job description file on that advert hasnt got a file extension....
Grr I wont be getting MCSE certified working in a school!
Have to aggree that 24K for an MCSE, MCP is low. I earn that, and Im neither.
I don't know who put that on there! I had a hand in the job spec and I always place experience above quals. It must have been LCC's HR droids doing. Apply anyway,as its not 'really' essential.
Do we have a thread on ways to get MS Certified? I'd like to look into it privately, and have no idea where to look, apart from that there is a test centre nearby in Telford.
You're right about the traffic. My wife works in Accrington and drives every day, at about 45 mins that's not too bad. Its a lot easier to go that way from Skipton than it is to Bradford, where the traffic is always horrific.
I'll think about it.
I wouldn't bother. You will just get sucked into a vicious circle of re-qualifying every product upgrade and chances are that you will get no extra money anyway. Remember, you only rent M$ certification. I would go for something more permanent like these...Quote:

I have 2 of these and damm nice they are too, platform free, a recognised certification, and cheaper than M$ when everything is factored in.

I agree with you Dos_box but it is pretty disheartening to find that pretty much every support job advertised in Lancashire (other than for a trainee or junior position) wants you to hold a Microsoft certification. Very frustrating!
Pete
It's getting scary. Microsoft certification is starting to resemble the Church of Scientology!Quote:
