Fixed contract/job swap in 2012 - Come and live in New Zealand for 6 months!
Hi there fellow Edugeekers. Just tossing around an idea at the moment, and thought this would be the place to start.
I'm an ex-pat living in Dunedin, New Zealand, and am thinking of coming back to the UK next year for 2 to 6 months, to spend some time with my family in Carlisle. I'm a network manager in a large (by NZ standards) girls school here in Dunedin. What I'm wondering is if there is any way I may be able to work out some sort of job/house swap with a fellow network manager that may want to come out here for a while.
I won't go on about how wonderful life is here in New Zealand, but it is pretty fantastic, and having been here for 10 years, I'd never leave, but I'd like to spend some time with my folks, and I thought maybe if we could get our employers to agree to it (don't think I'd have a problem my end) it'd be a good opportunity to kill a few birds with one stone as it were. You'd have to be in the North, ideally in Cumbria or North Yorkshire. I'd be brining my wife and 6 year old daughter.
If I can't work it out, I'll probably just take extended leave and try and find some IT contracting work in the UK, but it'd be cool if if did work out.
Anyway, any thoughts, any takers?
