Where will I find . . .
. . . information on becoming a distance learning facilitator? The career web sites that I have seen do not appear to recognise the virtual world. There are any number of on line learning opportunities and they must all have tutors or facilitators, so where do those people come from?
I have also seen courses for online tutors at varying levels. I'm obviously not entering the correct keywords when searching. Does anyone have advice on this, suitable links or appropriate avenues of inquiry, please?
The Open University is a good place to start, but they tend to choose from previous students as they have a good grounding in how the OU works.
I was looking into this a while back, not sure if any of these will be of any use to you:
1. LeTTOL (Learning to teach online)
2. Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) or the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) or the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) - in order of highest to lowest.
3. Your certED or PGCE, but you'd have to be a teacher for this.
4. e-Learning Facilitation course offered by TAP
Hope this gives you a starting place :)
Thanks everyone, will take a look. Strangely hadn't thought of OU.
I just happened to have been looking at a degree course on it the other day, that was all.
