ICT MULTI MEDIA & NETWORK MANAGER

37 hours per week APT&C Scale 5 (22-25) term time only + 3 weeks
£16,578 - £18,181 (pending pay & grading)

Fixed term contract in the first instance.

The governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to complement our existing team of staff providing support for pupils and teaching staff. Successful candidates will possess excellent organisational skills and will be able to relate well with groups of students.

10k+ short for Network Manager money

If the money is for the actual 40 weeks it's not bad, but if its to be pro-rated down further then it's not good.

Hmm I wouldnt have thought so these days. Maybe 5 years ago. Still theres always those that dont keep up with the times.

we shall be offering about the same money (full time) for an ICT/Multimedia technician soon, in the North East.

I was going to say - many schools are offering 16-18k for technical staff now, never mind a Network Manager.

Good luck with it - I hope you get a 25k network manager for your 16k - but the chances are you won't.

I agree with you vegas for network manager and multi media, that is short. But then again depends on what the work load demands are:D

I spotted this on the local jobs bulletin, and thought it may interest someone.

I think the description is a bit vauge and I'm wondering what they mean by "network manager" anyway. To be honest the money doesn't look too bad for this neck of the woods if it is after a pro-rata, and the way the local Council pay and grade review is going it's going to look even better.:eek:

Not saying it's right or fair, just the way it is currently.

its about right for someone getting paid 7k less than the going rate :)

The latest edition of PC pro has the average salaries for IT jobs across the UK

The lowest of which was a junior Administrator at £19950 and junior tech support £26621 as for experienced managers its around the £40k-50k mark

A senior manger in the school has been telling me for the last 5 years IT salaries are about to come down.. I think not to my level anyway

I would've thought anywhere between 23k-30k would be a reasonable salary for ICT Manager in the Greater Manchester area anyway... but the job at Sharples... when I saw the LEA jobs bulletin I thought it was going to be a techies job with a bumped up post title to attract people but they do actually want a ICT Manager. I think I earn the same and I'm just a tech.

The sad thing is some poor gimp will take the job to boost his / her cv and the school will get a totally distorted view of the the job and its value...

Sounds about right. Is the article online or do I have to buy PC Pro?

My feeling is that it should relate to the environment and the size of the setup. Managing people as well as machines does add a whole layer of complexity.

If you look at a job and like it - but the pay is too low - then I have to admit that I've had no shame in writing to the employer telling them that I'm not applying for the job because it's not being paid enough. I've had some interesting responses - and seen the post re-advertised at a higher grade. It got me my current position.
