BBC NEWS | Education | Teaching assistant controls urged
It's up to the Headteacher what level of grading and how much teaching TAs do. Some are pretty fair about it and pay the top level for the ones who cover for teachers regularly.
But there are also some who really exploit the situation, they pay the lowest rates to their Teaching Assistants and also expect them to cover for longer term teacher absence, and in effect they teach at least half a class for most of the week to give teachers PPA time.
Who predicts the 1st school with no teachers? Only TA's and business managers?
There are days when my school feels like that now:(
