Salary 15k to 18k (depending on experience)
John Madejski Academy is a state of the art Secondary School and 6th Form College, utilising the latest Microsoft and Cisco technology. We are currently looking to recruit an IT Support Technician to join our talented and experienced IT team.
You will be College or University educated with IT-specific qualifications, having a minimum of 2 years exposure within an IT support environment. Experience of IT support in an educational setting as well as Microsoft qualifications would be desirable. Excellent customer service skills are essential.
The post holder will interact on a daily basis with Academy staff and students and will be expected to establish a productive, helpful and professional relationship.

Job Description
The IT Support Technician is responsible for resolving or escalating helpdesk requests in addition to administrative/documentation duties.
Typical 1st line support tasks include repairing/upgrading:
• PCs/laptops
• Printers
• Projectors
• IP Phones
• Interactive White Boards
The objective is to provide uninterrupted service to all IT facilities while striving for optimum operative status to the benefit of the user (staff/students).
Primary Responsibilities:
• Work through IT helpdesk tickets (in accordance to priorities)
• Maintain existing Infrastructure; monitoring and upgrading as required.
• Configure, test and support software (existing/new additions/updates)
• Continuously monitor network alarms and respond as necessary
• Maintain/Administrate the Virtual Learning Environment and JMA web site
• Support Active Directory – User creation, DHCP, DNS, GPO, etc
• Configure rules for the web filter/firewall
• Run, and inspect Backup data routines
• Proactively check laptops/PC’s and repair/upgrade as required.
• Repair and install network, audio, and VGA ports – including cabling
• Maintain plasma/LED screens, and associated software
