Pays well, beautiful part of the country... if you are really interested you'd find a way to get there.

28th February 2012, 09:03 AM #4 I think that very attractive salary will be outweighed by the cost of living in Jersey, still it would be a lovely place to bring up a young family which I have.

But would cost a bit to get there. Could be money well spent, or money wasted. Tough decision....

28th February 2012, 09:30 AM #6 The only way to find out is to apply and go over there
assumptions shouldn't be made from this side of the channel.

"Programme and construct database software to meet the needs and specification of administration staff and the curriculum"
Does this mean you have to design your own MIS system?

28th February 2012, 09:58 AM #9 Do a search for poperty rental or purchasing a home in Jersey, that should put you off, unless you are single and can live in a very small studio apartment it's just not realistic on that salary, 50k on the other hand and it would be attractive.

28th February 2012, 10:10 AM #10 You pay less tax out there. Personal allowance is £12,790 going up to £13,370 and rates are much lower.source
Fuel is also cheaper... about £1.20 a litre

Ouch. Thanks for that. Had a quick look on right move, and the cheapest house to buy with minimum 2 beds is £379,000.

28th February 2012, 10:39 AM #12 Hmm that 37k is starting to look better, just checked out the income tax in Jersey.
Allowances and reliefs for 2012
From what I am reading you get very big tax allowances if married with two children, and tax releif on mortgages if you are on a low to middle income. Married, wife not working and two kids you would pay 0% income tax! The house prices still put me off though.

28th February 2012, 06:26 PM #14 Does the job come with residency though? I applied for a job in guernsey which did and all would be good. If it doesn't then you have to leave after 5 years!

28th February 2012, 06:32 PM #15 I don't think VAT is chargeable out there either therefore most things are slightly cheaper.
