University of Oxford - Computing Services

Computing Services, 13 Banbury Road, Oxford

    Grade 5: £27,428 - £29,971 p.a.

The University of Oxford is a complex and stimulating organisation, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence in research and teaching. Does the idea of helping to work with a large and complex network which is relied on daily by over 30,000 staff and students sound like a great job? If so, Oxford University Computing Services has an excellent opportunity to join a new team.

This is an ideal post to allow you to develop your knowledge of, and start a career in, data and voice networking. In a busy environment you will be part of a team responsible for the installation, basic configuration, management, support, and operation of the University's networks and some of the services and devices that run on it, including its external links. You will also undertake the wide variety of work that is associated with the various networks. You will be required to work closely with other members of the team and be guided by more senior members of the team.

You will need to be patient, a good communicator, demonstrate attention to detail and be willing to learn. You also have some familiarity with data and voice networking and concepts, the hardware involved in the movement of data between computers e.g. routers, switches, and network protocols.

Working within Oxford University Computing Services you will find provides an environment that gives room for creative thinking, space to develop your existing skills as well as the opportunity to learn new skills and continue your professional development.

Please ensure that you address each of the selection criteria in your supporting statement.

The closing date is noon on 17 October 2011. Interviews are currently scheduled for 3 November 2011.
