Think salary might be on the low side for me too though
What sort of start date is it?
I see this as more of a techie role right? It's not technical sales , more support of the sales...? What's the scope for moving between the two..

Start date - we needed someone in january
so ASAP.
It is a highly technical role. The name contains "pre-sales" but that only really represents the fact that we work very closely with the lads & lasses in sales, and we're a more "outgoing" and "people friendly" set of techs (which is why I like to recruit edugeeks). Chance of moving into sales ~0% as its a different mindset.
Also, if anyone wants to recommnd a friend, and we hire them... I am sure I can fish out some sort of monetary reward.

The role is most likely non-transferable I'd guess as the Sales lads and lasses are Leeds Based. Southampton is the developers and gurus that are there when you get blonde IT Managers....

20th March 2011, 07:54 PM #26 ...I wish - just the sort of job I can do - being an outgoing sort of techie type - but Leeds? That's north of Watford Gap, right?
I could be a red-headed IT manager sort of person in Southampton

21st March 2011, 09:04 AM #27 Yes, it's a leeds based role (though plenty of travel) I am afraid - we're a bit odd in our "dual home" nature! Southampton have all tech support, whilst we do sales up here in Leeds, but we have a dedicated team for planning, pre-sales help and installs, and they live here with me in Leeds. Eventually, I imagine we will get a dedicated arm of pre-sales lodged in the support office, and possibly vice-versa, but who knows.
FWIW, there's a similar opportunity in the Southern California area if anyone is interested.

Is working in the states considered as a hardship role? As in, do you get an allowance for being overseas? Is it easy for a brit to go there for work...? i'm learning to like the sun

I don't know. I'm wondering about sending a brit out. It's proving to be a PITA to recruit for.

Most of our traffic is from the USA and as of Jan 2011 we had approx. 5000 US members. Maybe worth a post in the US regional forum to see what interest it generates
