NAACE are currently planning our ‘Making Information Work’ Conference, which will be held at Beaumont House, Burfield Road, Old Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 2JP on the 26th April 2007. This is a strategic one day conference to appraise developments in the use of electronic data and implications for institutional and multi agency planning, the aim of which is to get together, for the purpose of updates, advice, guidance, hints and tips presentations and hands on sessions:

Naace members whose professional role will be influenced by developments in the use of electronic data;
*

School leaders interested in improving learning through the use of management information;
*

LA data managers, MIS school support team staff and others whose main professional function is the management of electronic data;
*

Local authority advisers whose functions include the procurement of data systems and effective practice in their use, or the development of the data requirements of Every Child Matters.


By the end of the day delegates will have appraised national developments in the use of electronic data, considered the criteria for assuring the effectiveness of use of data and discussed the implications for institutional planning.


PfS will open the event on the morning of the 26th April 2007 with a keynote address, updating delegates on the vision for putting the individual at the heart of information systems. Workshop sessions will follow regarding the following areas; A Framework for the Evaluation and Dbevelopment of School MIS, Tracking the Child: Centralised Data Services to Support ECM, Interoperability: Standards’ for Data Interchange and How Data and Analysis Techniques inform Effective Teaching and Learning.


After a short tea and coffee break a repeat of the morning workshop sessions will commence followed by a VIP lunch.


During the afternoon, more workshop sessions will take place including; Joining Technologies through Children’s Services, Futures: Using Data Intelligence for Measuring School Performance, Data Transfer between Institutions: School, HE and FE and Tracking the Child: Use of E-Portfolios.


Following the above session a panel will take place whereby delegates can ask the experts; this is followed by closing comments, concerns and issues. The conference will close at 16.30 with refreshments and networking.


All in all, this is a programme not to be missed, and we hope to attract a substantial number of members to the event. A full programme and booking information is enclosed. As we expect demand to be high, this will be on a first come first serve basis.
