Network Development Manager - Skipton Girls' High School
I'm moving on, so my job is becoming available. It's a lovely school with lots of good colleagues and (mostly) great students. I've enjoyed the 4 years I've been there.
Details Here - Scroll down past the Biology job.
Closes 1st November 2010.
Feel free to ask if you've any questions about the job.
Cheers,
Steven

And yet publish documents that "require" Adobe Acrobat. Interesting...
Can you expand on the details given in them? Particularly, why two VLEs?

Frog is new for us and in the process of being built. We've bought it to involve parents more, provide online reporting, etc.
It might replace Moodle, long term, but we've got alot of time and effort invested in our Moodle - we've been using it for a while now.
I'll try to expand on details if there's specific questions.

Shame to hear you are moving on Steven, are you moving on within North Yorkshire at all? I wish you every success on whatever you are moving on to and obviously if its to an IT role within a North Yorks school make sure you take my details with you for the ICT Managers Cluster to keep the list updated as I still have gaps in it!
For those looking at it, SGHS is a very good school, local to myself as its the next major town, we have a small partnership with them for a couple of A Level subjects at present and all of us in the area (overworked is another local IT guy) we all are around and happy to support each other as and when we can as we are at an extremity of the area with North Yorkshire being rather large! Do ask Steven any questions he's a brilliant guy and has got a great setup at Skipton from what I know after discussions with him.
North Yorkshire has an active ICT Managers Cluster Group (of which I am chair) meeting once a term at present and lots of things are in the pipe line to develop and hopefully improve ICT within schools in various areas (I cannot discuss on here due to the nature of them at present but I will say it will be interesting times ahead).

I didn't "require" Adobe Acrobat to open the pdfs in Mint Linux

Nor did I. I'm just surprised to see a school so keen on freedom publishing documents with advice that they "require" proprietary software to open them.

12th October 2010, 11:58 PM #8 Looks like a nice post at a nice place, and it's slightly closer than the one i went for with John! Maybe enough to make the difference. But i can't afford it
Good luck to those who apply.

Ahhh I remember SGHS. Spending a long summer up there working on their network. Good school to work for and the head was very much into new technologies (if it's the same person)
I even remember interviewing you for that post Steven

It seems like a huge waste of money purchasing Frog for parental access especially as the DFES has done a U-turn on this, yet even more so when you have had a good interest in Moodle.
I like the website though very good, the use of bright colours and blocks is excellent. Who designed and built it?
Wish you all the best for the future it looks like you have done an excellent job but why may I ask are you leaving?
