Isn't there a legal requirement to advertise a job externally as well as internally? - I may be wrong, someone please correct me.

If they know the internal candidate will get it why waste other peoples time coming for the interviews!

Because of what you said, it's a legal requrement to offer the job externally. I do find the law somewhat silly given that most of the time the internal candidate gets the job regardless. It wastes everyones time.

Fine, offer the job internally but then there is no need to lie when it comes to the 'not qualified' clap trap. Specially when certain people applying have registered ICT certifications !!

First time round, having gone through the interview, the tour (nice school btw), the test etc. I was turned down because I lived too far away. As did the other candidate from Norwich.

Lived too far away! surely they could of noticed that on your CV before calling you in.

They needed the excuse as to not to employ them. I hope they claimed traveling allowances.

It is a bit suspect i think. Maybe i lacked something, but considering i was already doing the job in another school (2 and half years now) in the borough and this was even closer to where i lived, i thought i would have at least got a call back!
