10-20 minutes by car each way depending upon time of day.

Before I got my car I had to get two buses to work which in total took 2 hours every single day.

About 2 -3 miles, takes me 10 mins by car or 45 mins to an hour to walk to work.

12 miles for each way and depending on which route I take and how busy traffic is ie some muppet's crashing on the A45 or else where as above can take longer but generally speaking between 20 to 30 mins each way.

3 miles, but across the city, so 30 to 40 minutes

Depends on the traffic, the weather, the time of day, how fast you drive :P

My current job is 35 miles away from my house. On a good day, if I leave at 4.00, and shoot up the motorway, I can be home in 45 minutes. On a normal day, however, avoiding the rush hour traffic on the M40 and getting stuck behind muppets driving 42 in a 60, leaving at 5.00, I get home between 6 and 6.30.

I usually leave around 8.00 in the morning - on a good day I'll be in work before 9.00, on a bad day it's around 10-15 minutes later.

I left at 7.00 this morning, hoping to miss all the traffic and get in before 8.00 - little did I know it was going to chuck it down with rain all day and everyone would drive at 4mph on the dual carriageway. Took over an hour and a half to get in. And I didn't get to see my kids at breakfast time

It depends on your circumstances. If you don't mind spending up to three hours in traffic getting to work and the same coming back, and you don't mind waking up, going to work, coming home and going to bed, then go for it. If you have a family, or a social life, then I'd look for something a bit closer

On a good day, 30 minutes on two buses. Never more than 45, though.

How are you calculating MPG cos the sites I have tried to work this out on are giving me rubbish results

12 miles to get to work and 12 miles to get back = 24 miles for one day

    24 miles * 5 days = 120 miles

To fill my 1.4 tank up is aprox £40 ( give or take a fiver ) so on average lets make the amount to fill up my car £42.50

A full tank lasts me 2 weeks - so I fill up twice to last me a whole month.

I was trying to calculate for one week so on the websites I would enter the amount of miles ( 120 ) , I would enter the cost as £20 as it is only for a week, and the site I am using requests the pence per litre which obviously fluctuates but I used 1.06

    His trip is 32 miles a day. £30 a week at around £1.10 a litre comes to 27.27litres or roughly 6 gallons. 5 * 32 = 160 miles a week. 160 / 6 = 26.7 ish. Rounded, as we're using rough numbers here, about 30Mpg.

Your MPG is about 30mpg too, using the above figures.

1.06? Where I live it's anywhere from £1.16-£1.22 per litre. I remember the days when it was 75p

quickest way to work it out,

fill tank, and zero your counter.
use car untill it is empty(at red line, or if your brave even further)
write down number of miles from counter.
fill car up, write down number of litres you put in.

I then put the numbers in here: http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php

i get between 38 and 42 MPG in a 1.2 Corsa fill up once every two weeks.

Can be 15 minutes to do 7 miles or 30 minutes.

I pass a fair few traffic lights and also an RAF base. Trouble is the runway flight path is over a road, each time they land in that direction, they close the road to land the "private" aeroplanes. Grr it can be frustrating.
