Knock up a Linux machine in Virtualbox on a spare windows server... rsync the live server to the virtual one... when done and configured, give the virtualbox the same IP as the real, then take down the physical server.which I can't do until I can stop the web server running on the same machine
Once done, bring back online, rsync back again & mysqldump from virtual & import to physical (if necessary), flip IPs back... and then realise you can keep the virtual machine, leave rsync etc running every 10 mins by cron, set up MySQL replication, and have a perfect standby web mirror ready to roll should you ever need to perform such ops again!
(Guess what I've been doing this week!)
