Stockport Academy, part of the United Learning Trust, opened as an Academy in September 2007 and moved into its new, state of the art, building in November 2008. The role will include leading responsibility for the operation, maintenance and management of all our systems and will include supervision of other team members. Additionally you will be responsible for the delivery of technology related projects across the Academy.
Stockport Academy is committed to safeguarding children and this post will be subject to safeguarding checks including an Enhanced CRB check.

Has this been posted before then? Must be worth a crack if you are in the area though!

Does anyone know what the crack is with a managed service?

I remember going for a look round here about 12 months ago when we were gathering ideas for our network replacement project, the place is truly stunning! Imagine a school where you can afford to spend in the region of £100k of equipment just on two Music Rooms!

I don’t think a Managed Service should be considered an issue. I have worked with Academies as part of a Managed Service agreement and many already had a local ICT support team in place or were in the process of building a team.
