Network manager salary poll...
Hello All
This is my first post to this forum although I look in on a regular basis.
I am a network manager in a secondary school, 900 pupils 100+ staff, 350 pc' laptops etc, 6 servers, 2 tech staff.
I have been the nm for 6 years, after moving here from commercial world computing (12 years) where I was a senior engneer with a big Euro company. I took a 50% pay cut to take this job due to health issues (not complaining). Now with the pressing issue of single status (still not implemented in Derbyshire) I wanted to get an idea of SS pay for techs and nm's, so I decided to do a poll on pay and thought this would be a good place to do it...
I hope this will be of interest to everyone.
[edit]
This is just for "School Ict network managers"

25th November 2009, 02:24 PM #2 You may find what you are looking for if you search around a bit. This kind of topic comes back round again every time there is a job advert etc. The range does vary a lot but it has got better in the last few years.

25th November 2009, 03:05 PM #4 Personally I'm on Scale 10 of our single status pay scale which on the NJC scales is SO2

25th November 2009, 03:13 PM #5 I'm on single status but the pay scales dont relate to any on the poll, I assume they are different in each county?

Judging by the comments so far pay scales differ dependent upon area, I will have to run another poll tommorow for pay not scales, think this will be a lot more accurate and of interest to everyone..

25th November 2009, 03:47 PM #10 2009 NJC payscales here - might help people fit their pay to a point on the scale.
However, sorry to dribble in your cup of tea, but what is the point of such a vague poll? And what about PO on your poll or did you assume every NM's paid peanuts? PO goes from PO1 to PO9 - a huge range of potential salaries, from £28k to £57k...
Also, since the title "network manager" encompasses a whole plethora of different job descriptions in schools, the salaries may not be comparable as the job spec for each will probably be very different.
You'd be better off running a poll on who's got the longest arms.

Thanks for the payscale thats similar to ours.
Sorry for the vague poll but what can you put in one title and 10 responses, and I dont think many nm's will be on the P scale, unless they are in London or the south east of course...Network managers do have different job descriptions, however this is just a "vague" poll. And seeing as your a chimp you must have the longest arms.

25th November 2009, 06:08 PM #13 As we're an independant school, our pay scale varys totally from that.
I've no idea what scale I'm on, I just know the figure. I think it's a fair wage for my job.

25th November 2009, 10:32 PM #14 Why not just put a poll on with pay ranges then such as 15 to 20k, 20k to 25k, 25k to 30k etc.. Those scales mean nothing to me as i don't have the foggiest idea of the scale I am because other areas use different figures depending on the county.
