Another poll you could run - No. of students and staff and support staffing levels.
We've got 1345 students on roll, 110+ teching staff/assistants and over 40+ non teaching staff that use IT resources.
Staffing - 1 x Network Manger plus 1 x Assistant Network Manager

but do you automatically move up the scales or is just the points?

you move up a point each year in April.
When you reach the top of your scale- u dont automatically go to the next one. Usually you have to get a review to move on to the next scale though I know some people who have stayed at the top of their scale for years and only got 1% cost of living increase.
I will be reaching top of my scale in April so will be hoping to move to the next one soon!

im paid as senior tech out of two of us. im boss, get expected to do nm job with bugger all staff wooop (the other lad off today with conjunctivitis)

27th November 2009, 11:50 AM #22 PO6 here - term time only + 4 weeks so with annual leave etc I get paid 50 out of 52 weeks.
In staffing terms me as IT Manager, Assistant Manager, 2 x trainee techies
1450 students, 200 staff, 140 laptops in trolleys, 450 fixed PC's + all teachers have laptops + some support staff etc. etc.
