oh ... yet another comment about the salary.

and the point is![]()

They can be appropriate but detract from the advert. Discuss it, but take it to a separate thread so that people can ask questions purely about the job and not go on about how poorly paid we (you) all are!
And now we move the thread into a discussion about appropriate use of this section of the site.
No one told me.
Sorry.
![]()

Hmm been thinking about this and can't think how posting negatively about the salary on offer, directly below the advert, could be considered appropriate. General discussions about the state of pay in our sector in separate threads, yes I can understand.
I am genuinely interested, can you provide an example?
edit: Gah! now I'm detracting from the advert, just can't win sometimes![]()

If the job description mentions such things as teaching (as an unqualified person - aka an instructor) as an additional task then it could be pointed to the pay and benefits book which sets out what salaries should be and can then be used by applicants as points for negotiation on salary. In this case I would expect that the successful applicant might want to push for the higher end of the scale (or even point out it is the incorrect scale for some of the activities included in the JD) and might be of benefit when writing your application.

PS, can a mod split this at an appropriate point?

For the job this thread goes with please see here - Gloucestershire, Network Manager

I started my current post on that sort of salary, if you're any good and the school's any good whoever gets the post won't be on that for long.
It's not a big school, only 600 students so I think the salary is pitched quite well for the post in my opinion.

I was the (unofficial) chief techy for Lancashire schools until recently and I was on just over that!!
I'd say that is pretty good (above average) for a network manager.

For the size school and for the location it is not bad ... I suppose it also depends on what is being used at the school, how many people you manage or link with ...
eh?, judging by this post.......
........gives the impression that you are [still] a mod. They can be appropriate but detract from the advert. Discuss it, but take it to a separate thread so that people can ask questions purely about the job and not go on about how poorly paid we (you) all are!
