Network Manager - Ise Community College and Henry Gotch Primary School

    Industries: Education
    Job Type: Full Time/Permanent
    Relevant Work Experience: 5+ years
    Education Level: Professional
Career Level: Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff)
    Salary: 25,000.00 - 25,000.00 GBP per year

Our new Academy opens on 1st September 2009 in the existing buildings of Ise Community College and Henry Gotch Primary School.

The Brooke Weston Partnership Director of ICT will need a competent, experienced, dedicated Network Manager to take the lead at the Kettering Science Academy site, ensuring that the integrated network delivers its day-to-day objectives of enabling teaching, management and administration. In the educational environment, interpersonal skills are paramount, but the network solutions are still as mission-critical as in a commercial setting.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to MCSE or CCNA level and have a proven track record of successful IT service management in a customer facing environment. However, consideration will be given to candidates possessing a strong service-orientated attitude and good IT management experience that is not backed by formal qualifications.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with high aspirations, keen to contribute to the ICT vision of a new and innovative type of school.

Responsible to: The Principal (and reporting to the Partnership Director of ICT)
Responsible for: All Academy ICT support staff

    Objectives

To make a major contribution to the design, management and administration of the Academy ICT Network.
To manage and develop those physical resources which support all staff and which then enable them to provide a high quality education in line with the Academy Aims.

To facilitate learning and information access by providing appropriate ICT solutions and services to the whole Academy community in its widest sense, leading and implementing the client interface.

    Core Purpose

The Network Manager is responsible for:

Managing and supporting the work of all ICT Technicians

Delivering the outcomes of the Academy ICT vision statement in collaboration with the Partnership Director of ICT

Providing a rapid response service to all end users

    Maintaining network security protocols

Managing the Academy website and VLE within the Partnership framework

Leading the development of Academy-wide ICT services

    Collegiate Responsibility

In addition to the specific responsibilities of this post, every member of staff at Kettering Science Academy will commit to:

Providing a courteous and efficient service to students at all times using their influence with other staff and students to promote high standards of behaviour and order within the Academy working to maintain the Academy at the forefront of educational practice fostering and sustaining a culture of enterprise and creativity in all aspects of the Academy's operation

If the salary was a tad higher and my existing NM job wasn't as fun as it is I'd have probably gone for this one.

I can honestly say that working within Northamptonshire is fantastic, people like Ken (wagnerk), Tony, and many many others who will make themselves known I'm sure is just one of the pleasures.

The Brooke Weston Partnership have a strong history of IT development and are a good bunch to work with. This will be their 3rd Academy (and a through school to boot) and well worth people going for. THe Network Managers at the other two academies are good people to work with. The Academy will be completely separate to the LA (the same way Corby Business Academy is) with regards to operational IT and infrastructure but the invite to local IT Manager / Support provider meetings is always open to anyone working in education in Northants. So, the person would not be working with me in the same way that other folks have / do (kmount, wagnerk, techyphil, etc) but there are some interesting things coming up in Northants that they will be able to get involved in.

Best of luck to those who apply.

Hold on .. that involves you actually getting out and about? And this is from the person who has to have the IT Managers' Meeting at his school to get him to attend?
