Calling all volunteers,
Are you at that point in your IT career where you wish to share the technical and professional skills you have gained with a qualified but less experienced IT person? Are you interested in becoming a mentor?
Nominet Trust is helping iT4C to pilot a new mentor scheme for volunteers. This is the perfect opportunity to share your skills & experience. This will benefit both your mentee and the charity whose project your mentee will work on under your guidance.
Benefits:
* Good networking and knowledge sharing opportunities
* Professional, personal and CV development
* A good opportunity to assist with a high value project to a charity struggling with their IT
Commitment:
* 1 hour per fortnight contact with your mentee(s) over 6 months from Oct/Nov 09-May 2010
* To attend 1 half day iT4C workshop in London with other mentors
* To attend 1 half day informal knowledge share seminar (also in central London)
We are seeking a further 25-35 people to join us as pro bono mentors. Is this for you? There is no commitment required at this stage so please express an interest if you would like to know more.
First date for mentor workshops is 22 September. There will be a second opportunity on 29 October. Workshops will be held in the Information Technologists Hall in London, EC1A 7JN.
(If you're a volunteer with less experience and would like help from a mentor we would also like to hear from you).
