Having recently moved school, and taking a more strategic rather than hands-on role in ICT now that I'm a Head, I'm trying to put together a job description for a network manager, ideally someone who can help take the school on by looking at provision in creative and innovative ways, and crucially someone who'll prioritize the learning/teaching/admin stuff over and above a quiet life. There wouldn't be any technicians to manage (at this stage).
Would anyone be willing to share their job description on/off line? Salary ball park would be helpful too, but obviously not something everyone's comfortable sharing!
TIA.
Miles.

Good to see you Miles ... pop over to this thread to introduce yourself (just in case there is someone who doesn't know of you and your work).
I have based my job descriptions around Becta's Technical Competencies Framework. I'll email them over on Monday, but I would recommend that people building the job descriptions pick and choose the relevant sections.
These competencies are the closest thing to standards in job description and job roles for techies and NMs ...
