Help! Written technical test task
Hello
I've a job interview next week for a helpdesk analyst role. The first task is a 30mins written technical test. What is a written technical test? Do you've to write with a pen and paper instead of the geeky keyboard 8O This could be tough.
Advice and help appreciated

Its probably just a sheet of 20 technical questions which you have to answer.
Like, 1) If you wanted to check to see if a device had drivers installed correctly, what method would you use?
2) If you wanted to add a new user via Active Directory, which steps would you follow?
3) What 3 things should you do when installing a graphics card?
4) Failing all else, would you consider sleeping with the boss in order to get the job?

If those questions came up I will be a happy man apart from Q4 8O LOL
Imagine a question on pen and paper
How can IT support the backbone of our department better. What future improvements can we make with the budget we've. Please write with clear grammer and punctuation, must be at least two pages. This will be negatively marked and your time starts now.

Re: Help! Written technical test task
I've just had a right nasty one with an interview letter
"please write a full report recommending we replace all our existing printers with shared printers. This report should be suitable for circulation to all levels of users. You are reminded of our commitment to bilingualism "
And that's just a generic 2nd-line tech vacancy where welsh wasn't actually a requirement!
Thank god I didn't apply for the citrix admin job at the same place!
Most of my written tests have been stuff like "explain how name resolution works in a Windows Network", "<blah> needs access to <bleurgh>'s data but they're on sick leave and cannot be contacted, what do you do"
The technology questions are easy, but they always through in something like the data protection act

If I remember my written test correctly, there was 4 questions and I had 15 minutes to complete them.
one question was what does dhcp stand for?
I think another was write down the steps for mapping a printer.
It was quite easy.
